On Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at approximately 4:20 a.m., officers responded to a shooting incident at 33 East I-65 Service Road South, Extend-a-Suites. Upon arrival, they discovered a 35-year-old female in a vehicle who had sustained a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to the hospital for a life-threatening injury and later succumbed to her injuries.
The victim's name will be released pending notification of the next of kin. No other details will be released at this time to protect the integrity of the investigation.

The victim has been identified as Ashley Williams.

Ronalldo Kendricks, 38, was taken into custody and will be charged with murder and shooting into an unoccupied vehicle.
