On Sunday, January 4, 2026, shortly before 10:00 a.m., officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 100 block of Tuscaloosa Street. Upon arrival, a male subject inside of the home began shooting at officers. One officer was struck by gunfire and transported to a local hospital where he is currently undergoing surgery for his injuries.
Additional officers responded to the incident as the subject barricaded himself inside of the home where he continued to fire shots at officers.
At approximately 12:00 p.m., the subject and a female individual exited the home without further incident. Justin Senia, 40, was arrested and transported to Metro Jail.7
While enroute to the incident, two officers inside of one MPD unit were involved in a traffic accident. They were both transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
