MOBILE POLICE DEPARTMENT Mobile PD Mounted Unit To Assist Oxford, MS Police Department

The Mobile Police Department’s Mounted Unit will be in Oxford, MS from Thursday, September 17th through Saturday, September 19th working with local law enforcement during the area’s upcoming, highly anticipated football game.
The Oxford Police Department is just one of many law enforcement agencies across the southeast that we assist at times during the year if requested. In turn, we utilize Oxford PD and other agencies during large-scale events like Mardi Gras.
This training is important because it allows other agencies to better prepare their officers for the sights and sounds along parade routes when riding a horse or maneuvering tight routes on a motorcycle.
While we will be sending 5 of our mounted officers to Oxford this week, we won’t be the only law enforcement agency offering assistance as they expect a busy weekend ahead with additional visitors coming to town.
The only expense for the Mobile Police Department will be for fuel to and from Oxford this week.
We’ve been partnering with the Oxford Police Department for more than 15 years. These partnerships are beneficial and allow our officers to work in other areas, bringing back additional knowledge and skills that could be utilized right here at home.
