On Monday, April 10, 2023, at approximately 6:28 p.m., officers responded to a shooting incident that occurred on the 1000 block of Orchard Drive. Upon arrival at the scene, the officers discovered Darrell Brown, a 34-year-old male victim who had sustained a life-threatening gunshot wound. Brown was transported to the hospital for medical treatment and later succumbed to his injuries.
This is an active homicide investigation; therefore, no further details will be released to preserve the integrity of the investigation.

***Update***
During the course of the investigation, James Tanksley was identified as the subject involved in the homicide case that took place on the 1000 block of Orchard Drive. On Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at approximately 6:00 p.m., Tanksley was apprehended in Moss Point, Mississippi. Subsequently, on Friday, May 12, 2023, he was extradited to Mobile, where he was booked into Metro Jail and charged with murder.
