On Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at approximately 9:50 a.m., officers responded to 6190 Girby Road, 61Ninety West Apartments, in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, police officers discovered Martyn Hands, 63, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in the vehicle. The victim was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he later died.
During the investigation, detectives discovered that Mr. Hands and the subject, Xavier Dixon, 19, were involved in a confrontation at the apartment complex in the parking lot.
Xavier Dixon, 19, surrendered to police and was taken into custody. He will be charged with murder, shooting in an occupied vehicle, and shooting into an occupied dwelling.
No additional details will be released to protect the integrity of the investigation.
