On Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at approximately 1:23 p.m., officers responded to 685 Schillinger Road S. (Walmart) in reference to a female victim being struck by a vehicle. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim with life-threatening injuries. She was transported to a local hospital where she was later pronounced deceased.
Upon further investigation, officers discovered the victim was leaving the store when a vehicle struck her in the parking lot. Four other vehicles were also struck.
The driver of the vehicle was brought to MPD Headquarters for questioning. The case has now been turned over to the Mobile County District Attorney’s Office.
The victim has been identified as Wanda Nunnery, 78.
