Jan 21st, 2026

On Wednesday, January 21, 2026, officers located the subject responsible for shooting a male victim in the area of 100 S. Carlen Street on Friday, January 9, 2026. Jai’Quan Ramsey, 19, was arrested and booked into Metro Jail at approximately 9:15 a.m.

On Friday, January 9, 2026, shortly before 9:00 p.m., officers responded to 100 S. Carlen Street (Murphy High School) in reference to a subject with a gun on campus. Upon arrival, responding officers heard gunshots in the distance. Moments later, it was discovered a juvenile male victim had already been transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. Upon further investigation, officers discovered the shooting occurred on S. Carlen Street when a fight broke out, but the incident continued to the area of Clearmont Street a short time later. It’s important to note, a basketball game at Murphy High School ended shortly before the incident, and this did not occur during the game.

Through the course of the investigation, officers identified and located a subject who fired shots during the incident. On Monday, January 12, 2026, Tyrese Moore, 19, was arrested and transported to Metro Jail.

“My officers have been working this case since the night of the shooting, working every lead along the way. I’m proud of their professionalism and commitment to public safety which led to two arrests in under two weeks. The long hours and persistence have paid off. The case will now go to the Mobile County District Attorney’s Office where I trust they will prosecute to the fullest for these reckless actions,” said City of Mobile Police Chief William Jackson.
