The First Precinct is commanded by Captain Lee Laffitte and is located at 850 Virginia Street.
The First Precinct operational area is bordered by the Mobile River, Government Street, Interstate 65 and the Theodore Industrial Canal a total of 89.4 square miles. This area is heavily populated by residential construction in addition to commercial and industrial development.
In 2020, the population for this area was approximately 53,237 residents with 41,103 calls for service.
Captain Lee Laffitte has served in law enforcement for 20 years. He began his career at the Mobile Police Department as a cadet at age 19. Moving through the ranks, Captain Laffitte has been assigned to Field Operations, Special Investigations, Intelligence, and Community Policing.
With experience gained both as an investigator and supervisor, he brings the techniques of intelligence-led policing to the First Precinct with the same enthusiasm and determination that earned him the Excellent Police Duty Medal four times, the Chief Commendation Medal four times, and the Chief's Unit Award eight times.
Captain Laffitte holds a bachelor's degree in criminal justice administration from Columbia Southern University. During his off-duty time, he continues to engage with his community by speaking at area churches and volunteering as a youth basketball coach.
