On Saturday, February 21, 2026, at approximately 6:51 a.m., Mobile Police and Mobile Fire-Rescue responded to a traffic accident in the area of Cary Hamilton Road at the railroad crossing. Upon arrival, it was discovered an Amtrak train struck a vehicle. The driver, Brittany Williams, 31, and her 8-year-old daughter were pronounced deceased on scene. Upon further investigation, officers discovered the audible signal, flashing lights and crossing arms were functioning properly at the time of impact. The train traveled approximately 2100 feet after impact before it was able to stop. No passengers aboard the train were injured.
