On Sunday, October 19, 2025, at approximately 8:50 a.m., officers responded to the area of NB I-65 between Airport Boulevard and Dauphin Street in reference to a traffic accident. Upon arrival, officers discovered a motorcyclist with serious injuries. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased a short time later. Upon further investigation, officers discovered a vehicle was entering I-65 NB from Airport Boulevard when the driver lost control. The motorcyclist, identified as Paul Wike, 71, reacted and braked hard, but also lost control of his motorcycle. The vehicles did not make contact. This remains an active investigation.
