Linda Pitts Named Civilian Employee of the Month

Jun 30th, 2020

The Mobile Police Department has named Linda Pitts the Civilian Employee of the Month for May 2020. Employed with the department since December 2004, Pitts currently serves as a secretary for the Gun Intelligence Detail. She is credited with going above and beyond her responsibilities as secretary.

Pitts created a form to streamline the gun intake process and created a case management system to track all work being completed, making the Gun Intelligence Detail more efficient. Pitts was also tasked with creating a Leads Report to track the dissemination of all leads that were produced by the detail. She made the report is easy and simple to comprehend.

The month prior, an investigator in the Gun Intelligence Detail was granted Emergency Medical and Family Leave and has yet to return to work. Pitts stepped up and assisted the other investigator to help shoulder the extra load created by the loss of the investigator.

She continues to come in early to make sure everything is in order for the investigator so that he can start working right away. Pitts has not complained about the extra work. She simply puts her head down and gets the job done.

In large part due to the assistance of Pitts, the Gun Intelligence Detail was able to test fire 118 handguns, process 561 fired casings, and upload 184 casing images into the National Integrated Ballistic Information Network (NIBIN) during the month of May. Pitts was also responsible for conducting 158 gun traces.
