On Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at approximately 9:33 p.m., officers responded to a shooting incident on the 1000 block of Oakland Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 20-year-old male victim who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to the hospital for medical treatment and later succumbed to his injuries.
The victim’s name will be released pending notification of next of kin. This is an active homicide investigation; therefore, no further details will be released to preserve the integrity of the investigation.

Through the course of the investigation, detectives identified Jeremy Thigpin Jr., 18, as the subject involved in the murder of 20-year-old Faisal Alrakan that occurred on Tuesday, March 26, 2024. On Wednesday, March 27, 2024, detectives arrested and charged Thigpin with felony murder and distribution of marijuana.
