MPD’s Project THRIVE to host Community Days

The partnering agencies of Project THRIVE will host “Community Days” at multiple City of Mobile parks this summer. Project THRIVE is led by the Mobile Police Department’s Office of Strategic Initiatives and is comprised of nearly two dozen community agencies committed to providing trauma healing and resiliency in the wake of violent events.

Community Days are designed to bring strength for Mobile by connecting citizens to resources needed to live well. Those include health and dental care, employment opportunities, substance abuse and mental health services, and educational opportunities. Community Days help provide resources that strengthen the family structure, while building relationships with the community.

Here are the locations for our 2023 Community Days. Each event will include free food, fun and fellowship.

• Thursday, May 25, 2023, from 4-6 p.m. – Newhouse Park (2960 Alston Dr.)
• Thursday, June 8, 2023, from 4-6 p.m. – Rickarby Park (550 Rickarby St.)
• Thursday, June 22, 2023, from 4-6 p.m. – Sullivan Community Center (351 N. Catherine St.)
• Thursday, July 6, 2023, from 4-6 p.m. – Kidd Park (800 East St.)

Some of the agencies participating in these upcoming Community Days include AltaPointe Health Systems, the Mobile County Health Department’s Family Health Mobile Bus, Bishop State Community College, The Wave Transit System, the Drug Education Council, Enroll Alabama, the University of South Alabama Psychology Clinic, Victory Health Partners, Lifelines Counseling Services, Housing First, and the Alabama Career Center (Mobile).
