On Sunday, July 31, 2022, at approximately 10:56 a.m., officers responded to the 1000 block of Parkway Drive in reference to one shot. Upon arrival, police officers discovered a 21-year-old male victim suffering from a gunshot wound in the vehicle; the victim was transported to the hospital and later succumbed to his injury.
The victim's name will be released upon notification of the next of kin.
This is an active homicide investigation. Therefore, no additional details will be released at this time to protect the integrity of the investigation.

Update:
Through the course of this investigation, Lanell Gano, 19, was identified as the suspect in this case. On Monday, August 1, 2022, he was arrested and charged with murder, shooting into an occupied vehicle and shooting into an unoccupied dwelling.
The victim has been identified as Wesley Darrington, 21.
