In the last two years, MPD has increased communications between the department and citizens. Six video have been produced, introduced the media and shown to thousands of young people and their parents. ___ news conferences have been held. Countless interviews with the media have been done. This new web site introduces two-way communications with convenient ways for citizens to relate their experiences with MPD officers and employees and easy access to our videos. MPD’s Facebook is more active. The MPD Speaker’s Bureau has been organized and will proactively offer officers to show our videos, explain the changes we are making and answer questions.
The media is working with us to make Mobile the safest city in America with respect for everyone. Television has shown parts of our videos and run our public service announcements in prime time. Radio has interviewed Chief Barber and covered our news. Internet news and the newspapers have done in-depth articles on our changes.
