Deadly shooting investigation near the mall

Mobile Police are investigating a deadly shooting that occurred near the mall. On Saturday, September 18, 2021, at approximately 2:11 p.m., officers responded to 3201 Airport Blvd. in reference to a report of shots fired.

Shortly after the first call, officers were dispatched to Firestone, 3105 Airport Blvd., where a 21-year-old male victim was found shot in the passenger seat of a vehicle. The victim was identifed as Bryan Maynard.

Investigators determined that the victim was shot in the mall’s parking lot in front of the store DXL.

The victim was transported to the hospital where he died as a result of his injuries.

This is an ongoing homicide investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 251-208-7211.

UPDATE

On Friday, February 25, 2022, Patrick Lewis, 21, was arrested for the robbery and murder of Bryan Maynard.

The Mobile Police Department reports a second arrest has been made in connection to the homicide of 21-year-old Bryan Maynard.  On Tuesday, March 1, 2022, Nickolaus Hawkins, 25, was arrested and charged with felony murder, no pistol permit, certain persons forbidden, and receiving stolen property.
