A 21-year veteran of the Mobile Police Department, Micheal T. Williams was named Chief of Police in 2010. Chief Deputy Chief Lester Hargrove serves as second in command and takes over full responsibility of the Department in the Chief's absence.
The City of Mobile is located along the Gulf Coast and comprises an area of 176 square miles with a population of 250,000.
The Mobile Police Department, serves the more than 250,000 residents of Mobile, Alabama located on the coast of the beautiful Gulf of Mexico. The Department employs more than 800 full-time sworn and civilian personnel to provide services to the city. The administrative facility for police operations is the Harold L. Johnson Police Headquarters building located at 2460 Government St. near the corner of Pinehill Drive. Hours for the administrative offices are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
