MPD and MFRD Breast Cancer Awareness Joint Campaign

Mar 3rd, 2016

This October, the Mobile Police Department and Mobile Fire-Rescue Department host a first-time joint campaign to increase breast cancer awareness and raise money to help fight the disease.

Both departments have agreed to a friendly competition to raise awareness. To support the cause, breast cancer awareness shirts are available for sale at each department.

The department that raises the most funds during Breast Cancer Awareness Month (October) will have its chief wear a pink suit to the Mobile City Council meeting scheduled for November 1.

The public can purchase a “Heroes in Pink” breast cancer awareness shirt at Mobile Police Department Headquarters, 2460 Government Blvd or by calling 251-208-1915. The cost is $15 (2X or 3X sizes $17) available in cotton or performance tee.

“Fighting for a Cure” shirts can be purchased from the Mobile Fire-Rescue Department Central Station at 701 St. Francis St, or by calling 251-208-5818 or emailing percy.harris@cityofmobile.org. Shirts can also be purchased at the Greater Gulf State Fair. The cost is $15 for short sleeve and $20 for long sleeve in all sizes.

The Mobile Police Department will donate its proceeds to the USA Mitchell Cancer Institute to support cancer research and patient services.

Mobile Fire-Rescue has several charities for its donation including the USA Mitchell Cancer Institute.
