Operation City H.E.A.T. Results Day 1

Operation City H.E.A.T. Results Day 1

The illegal possession of firearms has increased the number of assaults, robberies, and homicides citywide. Reducing gun violence is the focus of Operation City H.E.A.T. (Heightened Enforcement and Apprehension Tactics) and includes several intelligence-led tactics.

One of those tactics, safety checkpoints, was conducted 6 p.m. Oct. 20 to 1 a.m. Oct. 21 in the RV Taylor community. The results below are from the checkpoint and directed patrol operations that followed the checkpoint.

Citations – 15
Misdemeanor Charges – 13
Felony Charges – 12
Guns Recovered – 3

The felony and misdemeanor arrests were mostly for outstanding warrants and drug-related charges.

One major arrest was that of 31-year-old Virgil Dubose, a felon who was illegally carrying a concealed firearm. Dubose has been in and out of jail over the years with prior arrests that include distribution of a controlled substance.
