Man Faces Murder Charge Three Years After Killing

A man has been charged with murder in the shooting death of 48-year-old Joseph William O’Brien that happened three years ago. The arrest comes after the case was presented to the October 2016 grand jury as a secret indictment.

On Thursday, October 23, 2013 at approximately 11:56 p.m. O’Brien was found shot to death in the parking lot of the post office located at 907 Springhill Avenue.

New evidence presented revealed 30-year-old Reginald Blevins committed the murder. Blevins was charged with O’Brien’s murder yesterday Nov. 1, 2016.

Here is a statement from the O’Brien family:

“The O’Brien Family would like to express our gratitude to the Mobile Police Department for its persistence in working to make an arrest in Joey’s murder. It has been three years since we received the tragic news and we are grateful for those who have surrounded us with love and prayers. Please continue to pray for our family as well as all the families in our community that have fallen victim to violent crime.”
