Greetings to all of our Citizens & Friends of Mobile PD ... and especially to those of you who live within the 5th Precinct coverage area!
I am Capt. Jack Dove and I am your Precinct Commander.
I have served with the Mobile Police Department since 1978.
I currently hold a B.S. Degree in Criminal Justice, with a minor in History and Military science. In addition, I have completed two advanced degree programs, holding a Masters Degree in both Public Administration and a Masters of Science in Criminal Justice.
The latest Crime figures for all Part I crimes reflects that the 5th Precinct has the lowest crime rate in the City of Mobile. We have seen a recent trend increasing our numbers for "theft" and for "Breaking and Entering" a motor vehicle.
Our good crime rate is directly related to the good job our Officers and Investigators are doing .. AND to our Citizen Action groups (CAGS) and concerned individuals becoming involved in helping us reduce crime and catch Bad Guys!
Thanks to all of you!
If you wish to be added to our Precinct Five Community Action Group e-mail then please send me an email to : email@example.com
I will then put your e-mail address into that group and you will receive the crime updates for our area as well as any significant crime trends or scams.
We do have a "ride-along" program which allows a citizen, 21 or over, to ride along with a patrol officer during his normal shift. this allows an interested citizen to get a true exposure to the everyday operation of the Patrol Division.
You must have a clean arrest record. Tickets don't count .. but we don't let convicted criminals ride along ..unless they are in the back of the police car on the way to Metro Jail.
Should you need to make an appointment to speak with the an officer, Supervisor, or the Precinct Commander, please feel free to call us at 208-1301.

You are welcome to come by and visit the Precinct at any time during normal business hours, and speak with a Police Supervisor. However, it is necessary that you make an appointment to meet with a specific individual.
The General Investigation Unit (Detectives) is located at the 5th Precinct and can be called directly at 208-1320 (Sgt. Lorie Alford).
Sgt. Alford is the Investigative Unit Supervisor. Should you need assistance in getting information concerning a property crime you may call and speak with the Detective assigned to your case.

Detective Chavis can be reached at 208-1319
Detective Brown can be reached at 208-1321

Due to the nature of Investigations, you may have to leave a message and if so, you can expect a return call from the Investigator(s)as soon as they are available to return your call.
If you do not receive a prompt answer please feel free to call the main number and contact me. I will endeavor to assist you in getting the information you need.
