MPD Traffic Safety Unit Busy During Memorial Day Weekend

Mobile, Ala. – The Mobile Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit was out in full force this Memorial Day Weekend in an effort to uphold traffic laws thus preventing accidents and fatalities. The special operation, conducted from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. May 28 and May 29, resulted in 885 traffic citations, 24 Driving Under the Influence arrests, one felony arrest, and 75 other misdemeanor arrests.
The personnel costs for the operation were funded through the Joint Traffic Safety Grant.
